First Aid for Road Workers- Basic and Advanced

In partnership with Todd Morrison and Highway Hero, I am happy to offer you a new certification course!

Accident Responder Training

Basic First Aid for Road Workers and Advanced First Aid for Road Workers taught by Dr. David Powers

$2500 for one day events. $1700/day for multi-day events.

Travel Costs:

Travel is included in the cost for events in the United States east of the Mississippi River. For events west of the Mississippi River or outside the United States, travel is not included.

Both the Basic and Advanced classes are 6 hours each, and they can be taught to the same group, one after another, with no waiting period.

Despite our best efforts and safety practices, accidents and emergencies still happen, whether it’s with the road crew or in traffic. Bumps and bruises are handled easily enough with a first aid kit from the truck, but what do you do when it’s worse?

What if a member of the road crew is severely injured by a piece of heavy machinery?

What if a multi-vehicle accident occurs within the work zone?

We all know that any emergencies within the work zone will cause a traffic back-up, which will delay incoming emergency vehicles and consume precious minutes during the Golden Hour when chances of survival are at their highest. Road crews need to be better equipped to handle emergencies until an ambulance or fire personnel arrive on scene.

This training starts with basic first aid but progresses well beyond it teaching attendees to do much more than just “apply pressure and call 911”. Successful attendees will become truly capable of saving lives.

This class is adapted from the Combat Lifesaver program, a course Dr. Powers taught for the U.S. Army to train soldiers how to keep their soldiers alive until a medic or doctor arrived.

Dr. David Powers is a decorated veteran of the Marine Corps and the Army and a founding member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, where he led disaster medical teams. He is married and the proud father of four feral boys and one princess that he and his wife homeschool. His mission in life is to find the magical best mug of coffee in the world.

Attendees who complete the class and pass the required exam and practical exercises will be awarded:

• Certification sticker for the student’s hardhat. (More stickers can be purchased for truck windows, first aid kits, etc.)
• Certificate of completion
• Certification card good for two years

The certification class will need to be renewed every two years and a registry of passing students will be maintained should proof of completion be needed for job requirements.
