The Hidden Benefits of What I Do

The first time I called myself an “Expert” in something, I felt like a fraud. I was concerned because I didn’t have the right credentials, a published book, or an advanced degree. I just had lots of practical experience. I knew that what I showed people worked, and I wanted to share it.

Even so, I spent a lot of time and money taking the traditional route to “Expert”. Six college degrees including a doctorate, two board certifications, written more than twenty books, and thousands of dollars of educational debt later, I realize that experience actually doing the thing rather than reading about it or hearing about it was way more important and useful.

But what caught me even more off-guard was that the benefit is using that experience, how helping people get what they want in life actually changed the quality of my own life. Sure, I want to make money (a lot, in fact), BUT, most importantly, I want to change lives.

There was…

  • The first person I brought back from the brink of death in the back of an ambulance who went home to his grandkids a few weeks later.
  • A crowd of people standing around in a wasteland at an impromptu religious service I led in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
  • An OB doctor who left medicine for music after hearing about my adventures and realizing he was on the wrong path.

The REAL hidden benefit of what I do is the fulfillment I get when I see someone else change their life for the better. That’s what this business is all about for me, whether it’s keynote speaking, coaching, or helping folks prepare for the apocalypse (or next hurricane).

I’m guessing if you’re here, then it’s probably the same thing for you too- am I right? You want to make changes in your own life and see changes in others?

If so, then you need to get a copy of my book Becoming a Turtle. It’s the story of my first big solo expedition. No, it won’t teach you how to become an expert in something. What it will do is show you how one ordinary guy, who was willing to step out into adventure, did something amazing despite a lack of knowledge, not enough money, and poor planning.

My hope is that it will inspire you to do your big thing.

Tell you what, if you do get the book, I’ll send you a BONUS. Just e-mail with proof of purchase, and I’ll send you a surprise gift. If you only want to dip your toe in, my publisher even has the book broke up into smaller sections you can buy individually.

Sound good?

Awesome. Then go get your copy HERE.

Thanks,
Dr. Redbeard

PRO Tip for the Day (from my Turtle book): Always take quarters into the bathroom. Some places charge extra for the water and/or toilet paper.
